I am from France and this beautiful hat arrived in less than a week from London, the hat is really beautiful and exactly what I was looking for, the work of Handembroideryuk is excellent.
Good quality item overall, but the stitching on the front leaf of the hat is not the same as the picture - the right leaf is slightly longer than the left (not big, but noticeable)

I ordered a set and it turned out to be 3 1/2.one black. Three were too small for me to fit, one fell on my hip. This has happened with other items as well (combat pants and jackets). I ordered an expensive handmade knife and DHL seems to have it, but no offer of a replacement or refund. I am far from the future. Ed Morris

Waist pads (ties, collar stickers) are badges, pairs of cloth or metal strips on uniform collars (waist pads), and are used in the military and civil services in other countries. With the restoration of the Canadian Forces historical name, the restored insignia will include the common throat seal of colonels and generals.
In the German Empire, generals, some officers, guards and sailors wore column insignia, but these were not part of the full service uniform. The insignia (or Litzen) was introduced to all troops in the Weimar Republic in 1921 to indicate rank and branch, but was never used by the Navy. Some Nazi-era civil servants (eg, police and railways) wore uniforms with collar tags, similar to those of the armed forces. New markers were also introduced to the political leaders of the NSDAP, new Nazi organizations such as the SA and the Schutzstaffel. East Germany used similar collar tags for the Wehrmacht in the Army and Air Force. Some Navy personnel also wore collar tags. The Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany also continued to use column tags in the Army and Air Force, indicating which branch (or Truppengattung) each soldier belonged to. Members of the German Navy do not wear column insignia.
Since the end of the nineteenth century, colored collar patches have been widely used by the Italian Army to distinguish services and divisions.

On the collar patches of the Russian Empire, the ranks are marked according to the rank table. Served as the main badge of military rank in the USSR 1924-1943. When the shoulder straps were reinstated in 1943, the collar tags remained insignia of the branches and arms of the service. They were also used as badges by some civil servants from 1932. The same is true of the modern Russian Federation.
In the United Kingdom, generals or senior officers of the British Army wear throat badges according to their branch or branch; their counterparts in the police force wear matching silver and black throat patches. Patches are also worn by officer cadets in the Merchant Navy, Army and Royal Air Force. These patches were introduced in India by British Army officers in 1887 and since then have been widely used. Different colors were introduced to indicate branches of service, and in 1940 they were: blue (engineers), dark blue (ordnance), light blue (education), red (general staff duties), cherry (medical), Maroon (vet), purple (priest), green (dentist) and yellow (accountant). Army officers below the rank of colonel did not wear throat scars until 1921, when they were restricted to the rank of colonel and above. This paper needs additional citations for validation. The garter worn by Charles Willson Peale in this 1772 portrait of Colonel George Washington was worn in the French and Indian War to denote his rank as an officer in the Virginia Regiment.
A throat guard /ˈɡ ɔːr dʒ ɪ t /, from the French gorges, meaning throat, was a band of wood worn around a woman's neck and head in ancient times, or simply the lower part of a friend's hood.

Later the term described a metal or leather collar that protected the throat, a suit of plate armor, or a single piece of plate armor that hung around the neck and covered the throat and chest. Later, especially from the 18th century onwards, the throat guard was used primarily as an ornament, becoming a symbolic accessory for military uniforms, a use that survived in other armies.
The term is used for other items, such as jewelry worn around the throat in several societies, such as the wide and narrow gold collars found in Bronze Age prehistoric Ireland.
